Tibet'S Commodity Exports Are Booming! Textiles Have Become A New Favorite Of Foreign Trade

As an important channel connecting China and South Asia, Tibet plays an important role in China's opening up. In the first nine months of this year, Tibet's total import and export value was 8.436 billion yuan, up 10.2% year on year. Zhangmu Port is located in Nyalam County, Shigatse City, bordering Nepal. Last September, Zhangmu Port resumed its passenger transport function, which had been closed for eight years. By the end of August this year, the number of inbound and outbound personnel here had exceeded 370000, facilitating personnel exchanges between China and Nepal, expanding China's opening up, and making the China Nepal Friendship Bridge more beautiful.

Thousands of people come and go every day, making the commerce and trade near Zhangmu Port keep warming up. The reporter saw that the shelves of a store were crowded with customers from Nepal, who carefully selected food and drinks from China.

Personnel exchanges have increased, and commodity exports are booming. Zhangmu is the largest port for Tibetan textile exports. Recently, with the arrival of the traditional Nepalese festival of Desai, the demand for cloth, clothing and other textiles has increased significantly, with an average of 4.77 million yuan worth of goods exported from here every day.

The increase of foreign trade exports has directly driven the production of upstream enterprises. A textile production enterprise used to produce wool and cashmere. With the increase of export volume this year, the enterprise began to plan to expand new product lines.

Cinuo, the general manager of Tibet Shengxin Industry and Trade Co., Ltd., said, "We want to export Tibetan yak hair fabrics and yarns to other countries."

At Zhangmu Port, not only the traditional textile export scale is expanding, but also the export of new energy vehicle related products is increasing. Sorangdan has been engaged in the export business of new energy vehicles for many years. After the resumption of passenger transport, he had more opportunities to meet with customers and was able to adjust the business direction in time. This year, the export volume of new energy vehicle parts increased significantly.

Sorang Danzeng, manager of Tibet Baiyun Import and Export Co., Ltd., said that the demand for shock absorbers, pedals, brake pads and other accessories increased after the increase in the number of exports of the entire vehicle, with an increase of 100% over last year's exports.

Zhaxi Baizhen, the first level administrative law enforcement officer of Nyalam Customs under Lhasa Customs, said that as of the end of September, textiles, as an important engine of export trade growth at Zhangmu Port, had seen a year-on-year increase of 171.5% in trade value and 63.34% in auto parts trade value.
