In 2014, the Xinjiang area (excluding Xinjiang production and Construction Corps) had an area of 29 million 670 thousand mu, and cotton output reached 3 million 677 thousand tons, accounting for 59.7% of the total output of the country.

This year, the documents issued jointly by the five departments of the autonomous development and Reform Commission and the autonomous region finance department showed that the international and domestic cotton futures fluctuated at a low price level. In 2015, cotton target prices were lower than the previous year's level (in 2015, Xinjiang's cotton target price level was 19100 yuan per ton, 700 yuan lower than last year's price per ton), and the comparative benefit of cotton planting was generally lower than that of previous years.

Therefore, we must do a good job in reducing cotton planting area.

Cotton futures predict that Xinjiang will reduce cotton planting area by 4 million 790 thousand mu, and the area will be reduced by 16.1%.

If the average yield per square metre of cotton in Xinjiang is calculated in 2014, it is estimated that the output will be reduced by 500 thousand tons in 2015.
