The footwear charity has gratified the Burma military government to allow its donated boots and shoes to enter the area. Soles4Souls, an international charity organization dedicated to providing shoes for the world's poor, announced that it had donated 25000 pairs of shoes to victims of Burma's recent hurricane disaster.

The Irrawaddy Delta area is in urgent need of relief supplies.

In this area, survivors are fighting against disease and hunger, supported by the things left behind by their homes and families.

The first batch of foreign relief supplies was forced to stop at the border on Thursday, May 8th.

As Burma refused to allow outsiders to enter the country, the external rescue teams such as government and civil servants had been forced to stay on the border.

Salvage materials in the state of detention include tens of thousands of new anti stab work boots, sports shoes and children's shoes.

These goods were donated by Soles4Souls and its global partners.

Soles4Souls founder and chief executive, Wayne Elsey, is optimistic and cautious that the military junta will start allowing foreign aid teams to enter the country.

Elsey said: "we hope that the latest news report is true - the Burma government will provide convenience to its people so that they can get relief supplies."

"We call on our partners to donate more shoes and funds so that we can provide more relief to the poor in Burma," he said.

The news reports that thousands of people in the country did not drink water, food, clothing or shelter.

Elsey points out: "for thousands of people, time is running out, and we are all very eager to help."

Last Saturday, the tropical storm Nargis caused about 100000 deaths and left as many as 1 million people homeless.

It has been considered to be one of the most serious natural disasters in history.

Relief efforts are proceeding slowly.

Several well-known rescue teams, such as the The United Nations World Food Program, have said that Burma needs hundreds of aircraft load supplies and equipment to overcome the Nargis storm, which most countries do not supply.

Other rescue teams worry that some goods will be consumed by the military ruling group.

Many commentators have accused the ruling group of procrastination because they do not want large numbers of foreigners to pour into the countryside, which may weaken their totalitarian rule in the country.

People are very worried that those who survived the first disaster may be killed in the second disaster - they are suffering from hunger, disease and shelter, and those salvage materials that may be able to save their lives are actually nearby, but they can not enter the country without approval.

Thanks to the international pressure from the Burma Alliance (including China), these relief materials seem to be able to reach those who need them most.
