Litigation

At present, the EU appeals period less than one month from December 7th.

On the 14 day, Guo Weiwen, Secretary General of Guangdong footwear alliance, revealed that two Guangdong shoe companies and two Wenzhou shoe companies have formally hired lawyers to sue the EU Council.

According to the briefing, the 4 shoe companies should be represented by the Golden Shoe industry in the South China Sea, the new Hong Kong dollar footwear industry in Guangdong Huizhou, the Tamar shoe in Wenzhou and the AOKANG group in Wenzhou.

As early as October 23rd this year, the Wenzhou AOKANG group formally sued the EU Council for levying a 16.5% anti-dumping duty on Chinese shoes, which was not in conformity with EU related laws.

The Golden Shoe industry and the new Hong Kong dollar footwear industry are all sampling enterprises in the EU anti-dumping investigation. They are very familiar with the investigation work.

However, according to industry sources, the 4 shoe companies responding to the lawsuit accounted for only a small part of the more than 1200 shoe companies involved.

Even Wu Zhenchang, chairman of the Guangdong footwear industry's anti dumping Union, also said that his Chuangxin group did not plan to respond, because most of them produced sports shoes at present and were not charged with high anti-dumping duties.

In response, the head of the Fair Trade Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce recently issued a statement to support the appeal of Chinese shoe companies.

Small shoe companies are facing bigger crises. Figures show that in the 1~10 months of this year, Guangdong's exports of leather shoes to the EU account for 58% of the total number of leather shoes exported to the EU in the same period, and that of Guangdong exporting leather shoes to the EU reached 791, of which only 11 were exported.

Although the EU imposed anti-dumping duties on imports, powerful shoe makers could enter into agreements with importers to share taxes and fees, but small strength shoe companies had no such advantage and could lose the European market.
