Leading Retailers In The US Will Stop Selling Lead Contaminated Accessories.

Under the agreement, the agreement company will begin to implement the following handbag standards on the products covered by the agreement in December 1, 2010:

The lead content in paint or other surface coatings is not more than 90 parts per million (PPM);

The lead content in leather does not exceed 600 ppm per million parts (300 ppm by December 1, 2011).

The lead content of Ethylene Plastics does not exceed 300 ppm per million parts (down to 200 ppm by December 1, 2011).

The lead content of other materials (except crystals) is not more than 300 ppm per million parts.

Violations of these standards will lead to a mandatory fine of up to 12500 yuan.

In addition to handbags and accessories, many companies agree to apply these standards to belts or shoes.
