Southern Common Market Rules For Textile And Clothing Labels

The southern common market, consisting of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, has recently issued a draft technical regulation which sets out requirements for the labels of textile and clothing products produced or imported to member countries.

In such labels, imprints, decals, printing or other similar means, such commodities must include the following information: name or registered trademark, the tax number of domestic producers or importers; the country of origin; fiber content (fiber content in less than 10% of the whole fabric can be expressed as "other fibers"), maintenance labels, applicable sizes or sizes.

Such information must be permanent, not easy to wear, easy to identify, and easy to see. It must be expressed in the language used by consumer countries, but it can also be expressed in another language.

The clothing label bill allows the packaging of textiles and clothing to print the required information in packaging or packaging without printing on the product itself, but ensure that the information can be seen from the packaging.

These products include fabric diapers, handkerchiefs, napkins, baby bib, socks and socks, gloves, woven garments, crochet bedspreads, mosquito nets and seamless garments.

If a single package contains more than one commodity, it is necessary to specify the number of goods and the instructions for these goods to be sold separately.

The fabric made of compact fabric with combed gauze can print the required information on the package.

Marked textiles and clothing sold in packages (bags) are not required to print the required information on their packages.

However, if the package is sealed and the label information can not be seen from the packaging, then the packaging should display at least the commodity fiber composition, country of origin and size and other information.

For the curtain, bedding, table and bathroom textiles sold in boxes (bags), the required information should be displayed on the packaging or packaging to ensure that the information can be seen from the packaging.

For such products, the dimensions do not need to be marked on the product itself.

There are a series of products that are not bound by this label requirement.

These products include sanitary napkins, sanitary napkins, disposable diapers, hairdressing, funeral and clothing, protective and safety equipment, horseback equipment, animal or toy textiles, motorcycle seats, camping tents, buttons, hangers, shoes and socks, felt hat, book covers, belts, ropes, flags, badges, labels, toys, umbrellas, bags, suitcases, cleaning cloth, parachutes, leased textiles, old clothes, diving suits, some tablecloths, sun shades, bathroom products (excluding towels, curtains and carpets), furniture, wristbands and fans.
